PCCW Shenzhen First Mile Communications Limited (FirstMileCom) is a privately-owned company founded by Hi-Tech veterans from Nortel Networks, Cisco and JDS-Uniphase in January 2003. FirstMileCom is dedicated to the developing and manufacturing of next generation highly reliable and cost effective all-optical access network gear for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) markets, and for the applications where the environmental conditions exceed the reach of copper cable.
By leveraging both the widely accepted and flexible Ethernet technologies and an intellectual property portfolio of more than 30 patents held by FirstMileCom, we have developed Ethernet based point-to-point Active Optical Network (AON) all-optical access platform OnAccess® and point-to-multipoint passive optical networks (EPON) platform GigaAccess®. These platforms enjoy both the cost advantages over other access offerings and the benefits of a network architecture that is technologically superior, simpler and easier to maintain than other current solutions. Both our platforms can offer combined voice, data, and CATV services on the same single fiber simultaneously. Our OnAccess® high-density, configurable, and modularized design is cost effective, flexible, reliable, and scalable, which can provide solutions for applications, such as FTTx, optical LAN, Ethernet based DCS, and security surveillant system, with minimized space.
